Every student, mentor, and professor on EnKounters brings something unique. Our community only works when everyone feels safe enough to be honest, curious, and open. These principles are how we protect that.
Treat every person you encounter as you would want to be treated — regardless of their career stage, background, or expertise. Condescension, ridicule, and dismissiveness have no place here. A first-year student and a tenured professor deserve the same basic respect.
Come as you are. EnKounters is built for real conversations, not performances. Be genuine about what you're looking for — whether that's guidance, collaboration, mentorship, or peer support. Misrepresenting your intentions undermines trust for everyone.
Anonymity is a shared gift. Don't try to identify, expose, or share information about your match without their consent. What happens in a conversation stays between the people in it. Respect their choice to remain anonymous for as long as they choose.
Harassment, hate speech, solicitation, threats, and any behavior designed to make someone feel unsafe will result in immediate removal. Anonymity does not mean impunity — every account is tied to a verified identity that we can and will act on.
If something doesn't feel right, report it. You won't be judged for raising a concern. Our safety team reviews every report and takes meaningful action. Protecting the community is a shared responsibility — and we make it easy to do your part.
The best communities lift each other up. Share what you know. Be patient with people learning. Celebrate others' breakthroughs. EnKounters grows when its members invest in each other — across every career stage and every field.
Minor violations of these guidelines may result in a formal warning and temporary restriction of features. Repeated or serious violations — including harassment, hate speech, or any zero-tolerance behavior — result in immediate account suspension or permanent removal.
We do not negotiate on matters of harassment or user safety. Every enforcement decision is reviewed by a human on our moderation team.
